Vivian Black Price

Vivian Black Price was born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 10, 1928, to William Black (1975) and Bessie Westcott (1961) and went to be with her Lord and her deceased family members on September 27, 2022. Vivian was predeceased by her parents, husband, Alfred S Price Jr (June of 1965); brother, William John “Jack” Black (1959); and Son, Alfred S Price, III (February 2021); and her loving family dogs Queenie (1946) Shaggy and Suzette (1976) and grand dogs Mojo (2011) Ziggy (2013). She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Price Rumbaugh, son-in-law, Christopher L Rumbaugh, Sr., grandchildren, Christopher L. Rumbaugh, Jr., and Samantha L Rumbaugh. She is also survived by her loving Westie, Hines, and grand dogs Cali and Kodak. Vivian graduated from Wilkinsburg High School in 1946. She graduated Shadyside Hospital School of Nursing in 1949, after which she worked as a head nurse at Shadyside Hospital until 1957. It was during this time she and her late husband moved to their home in Monroeville. After her husband’s death at a very early age, Vivian raised her children alone and guided them through life with love and a gifted sense of humor. Even during her time away from nursing, she was always taking care of all her uncles, aunts, and cousins during their medical time of need. Vivian returned to nursing in 1976, after raising her children, as an RN at Columbia Hospital in Wilkinsburg until her retirement at age 72 in 2000. After retirement she dedicated her time to her two grandchildren taking them to activities, their sporting events and babysitting, becoming a loving and devoted member of the Rumbaugh family. Vivian adored her family and loved spending time with them. She found joy in helping to raise her grandchildren and if you were ever a childhood friend of Chris or Sammy, you have had one of grandma’s lumber jack breakfasts. In addition to her devotion to her grandchildren Chris and Sammy, Vivian was a huge lover of dogs, including her own and the grandmother to all the family pooches. Her family is heartbroken at the loss of such a wonderful, kind, selfless and caring person from their lives. However, they take solace in knowing she is no longer suffering and at peace. At Vivian’s request, there will be no viewing or public funeral service. She requested a private and special burial service to be attended by her immediate family only and requested the devotion include her son, Alfred, who died during the Pandemic in 2021.
