Roxanne N. Lindgren

Roxanne Lindgren, better known as Rox, would want you to know that the musical Hamilton was playing when she passed away on January 10, 2025 with her family by her side. Rox was born on July 30, 1951 in Greensburg, PA. She grew up in Irwin, and then taught 7th grade Language Arts at Norwin after graduating from Clarion. Later, she was her children's friends’ favorite substitute teacher at Penn-Trafford High School. Also, she worked at Blockbuster, self-admittedly, to play with a cash register, alphabetize the new releases video wall, and rent five free movies a week. Grammar was always her professional calling though, and she was ruthless about any grammatical error that she found. Trust us, she found them all and corrected them. She was also almost unbeatable at Wheel of Fortune and the Wheel of Fortune branded slot machines. She was so excited to go on a mother-daughter trip to Las Vegas in 2023 that she slept only 30 minutes the night before the flight, much to her travel partner's exasperation. Somehow, Rox came back with more money than when she started. She met Donald Lindgren at a New Year's Eve party in 1978 and then married him just 131 days later on May 11th, 1979. In 1984, her son Eric was born. In 1990 came the twins, Amanda and Daniel, her convenient tickets into the Pittsburgh Mothers of Twins, Triplets, and Quads Club. But by far her favorite and joy is her granddaughter, Reed. A teacher by profession, she also taught her kids about being a friend. In addition to her family, she is survived by her many friends. There are countless planner entries of lunches and events over the years with her musical attending friends, teaching friends, card club friends, twins club friends, and “church lady” friends. She cherished them all. We will remember Rox by her chatty nature, her love of the TV show Big Brother, as a non-outdoorsy Girl Scout troop leader, by her competitiveness and stubborn spirit, and her love of singing in the church choir as a soprano. Her family and those who know the inside joke will always sing the word "rocks” in the second verse of “Joy to the World” ever so slightly louder than the rest while actively avoiding eye contact and silently giggling. Per her wishes, there will be no visitation or viewing. There will be a service at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Monroeville on January 14, 2025 at 10:30am. It was the place where she discovered her love of lighthouses from a 2000s VBS theme, always believing that Jesus's light shows the way. Arrangements entrusted to the GENE H. CORL FUNERAL CHAPEL INC.
