Mary Ann Bryan

Mary Ann (Smith) Bryan, 78 of Murrysville, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday January 13, 2018 at UPMC Seneca Place following an extended illness. She was born April 6, 1939 in Pittsburgh. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Vilma (Ceglar) Smith. Mary Ann attended St. Elizabeth grade school in Pleasant Hills and the former Elizabeth Seton High School in Brookline (Class of 1957). She attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing (Class of 1960), furthering her education at Mercyhurst University, Erie PA (1975) with a BA in Social Work (Gerontology), and a Masters in Health Service Administration from Gannon University, Erie PA (1983). Mary Ann spent 30 years working with the senior population in extended care and assisting living throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New Jersey, retiring in 2005 in New Jersey, and then returned to Pittsburgh for her retirement years. She is survived by five children; William John (Carla Goe), Pittsburgh, Robert Keith (Elyse), Cherry Hill, NJ, Erin Marie Slimbock, Haddonfield, NJ, Timothy Edward (Kara Hetz), Philadelphia, Pa, Christopher Allen (Elizabeth), Flemington, NJ; three grandsons: Ross and Justin Bryan, Cherry Hill, NJ and Jakob Slimbock, Haddonfield, NJ; and Kara’s daughters Olivia and Cleo Shine; a brother: Robert (Mary Jo) Smith, Aiken, SC. She is also survived by two sisters, several cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, and her special friends Jim & Carol Thompson, Kirk and Danelle Williams and their son Brady whom Mary Ann had the privilege of babysitting and learning to play video games with. The family would like to thank the staff of UPMC Seneca Place 4th floor for the care and compassion you provided to Mary Ann during her stay. Respecting her wishes, there will be no visitation or public service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are being completed by Gene H. Corl Funeral Chapel Inc., Monroeville, PA. In honor of her love of all birds and flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to The National Aviary, Allegheny Commons Park Pittsburgh, PA 15212
