Kevin Daniel Altman Sr.

Kevin Daniel Altman, Sr., age 67, of Irwin, passed away peacefully at home on September 25, 2024, for a heavenly reunion with his parents, Kenneth and Naomi (Black) Altman, and sister, Candace Altman. Kevin’s life was centered around family and loved ones. He was a devoted husband of 42 years to Susan Altman (Markle) and a loving father to Tiffany Hanson (Mark) and Kevin Altman (Jamie). He brought great joy to his family as the best Pap Pap to Lukas and Naomi Hanson and Liliana and Rosalina Altman. Kevin was loved by many including his brother Dwayne Altman (Sharon), extended relatives and friends. He retired in 2017 from Norfolk Southern (formerly Penn Central and Conrail) as a track foreman after 42 years of dedicated service. Kevin was part of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees and a lifetime member, having served in every office of the local chapter over the years, and most recently as president of Local 3008. He was also on the executive board of the Pennsylvania Federation of Teamsters for six years. Kevin’s work was crucial to creating positive changes in the daily lives of other railroaders, having participated in years of conventions and voting to progress the rights of the Brotherhood. Both with his family and friends and at work, Kevin led with integrity, kindness, and fun. Kevin shared a love of golf with his son and friends and enjoyed many years as the secretary of the Tuesday night Manor Valley Golf League. Kevin also participated in the Ascension Bowling League on Thursday evenings at Bowl-a-Rena in Jeanette. He was the first to win on a lucky scratch off lottery ticket and the last to leave a party. From the golf course to the railroad to the kindergarten pick up line, he was the epitome of a hard worker, incredible husband and father, caring grandfather, and loyal friend. Family and friends will be received Friday, September 27, 2024, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at GENE H. CORL FUNERAL CHAPEL INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike (412-372-2100). Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2024, in the funeral home.
