Ellen (Lehr) Churma

Ellen (Lehr) Churma of Mt. Lebanon, PA., born on Oct 8, 1959 in Buffalo, NY, passed away in early April 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents Ronald F. Lehr and Carolyn McKibbin Lehr formerly of Monroeville, PA., as well as her sister Karen Lehr of Pittsburgh, PA. She is survived by her brothers, Bruce Lehr of St. Louis, MO, and Mark Lehr (Susan) of Irwin and her sister Barbara Noteboom of Andover, MA. She has 6 nieces and nephews; Julie Anne (Lehr) Fantaske (Eric) of Crescent, PA, Patrick Lehr (Michelle) of Bethel Park, PA , Amanda Lehr (Henry Gorman) of Brooklyn, NY, Eric Lehr of Bristol, United Kingdom, Connor Noteboom of Overland Park, KS and Alix Noteboom of DesMoines, IA. She also had 2 great nieces, Quinn Fantaske and Charlotte Lehr. She was a 1977 graduate of Gateway High School. Ellen was an expert in sports. She was an athlete growing up in Monroeville, where she competed in track and field, gymnastics, swimming, softball and was the first girl to ever play on the traveling boys baseball team in the 1970’s. She was faster than most of the boys and went on to be a trainer for the Edinboro Football team. She graduated from Edinboro State College, with a degree in Health and Physical Education and remained active throughout her life. She loved all of the Pittsburgh professional teams and she often spoke on the radio or websites arguing the finer points of each team, but she especially loved baseball. Her career was spent working in the hotel and hospitality industry where she wore many hats over the years. She worked for several Holiday Inn properties and the last hotel she worked at was the Wyndham Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. Her colleagues remember her fondly for her business acumen, humor, professionalism, work ethic and most of all friendship. Ellen was generous to a fault with her whole family and friends and all who loved her will miss her spirit, wit, beauty and love. We all have wonderful memories of warmth and laughter to keep her in our lives forever. She was one of a kind. There will be no visitation or service. Arrangements entrusted to the GENE H.
