On Sunday, July 26, Lois Lewis, 87, peacefully passed and joined her late husband, Melvin E. Lewis, in heaven. She was raised in the South Side of Pittsburgh, but for the majority of her life she lived in and worked for the Municipality of Monroeville, as the executive secretary to the Borough Manager and later as the Director of the Senior Center, where she was well known and admired. Her family and friends are forever grateful for the time they got to spend with her. Throughout her life, she loved traveling to all 50 U.S. states, camping in her RV, studying her family’s genealogy, supporting the Boy Scouts of America’s, and spending time with her beloved family and friends. She enjoyed socializing with the Red Hat Society, attending mass at St. Bernadette Church, and playing cards. She was a tech savvy grandma who loved texting, exchanging picture messages, and video chatting with her grandchildren all over the world. She was a lover of chocolate, coffee, cats, the color blue, and all things Mickey Mouse. She always had a handful of red bird mints in her pocket. Her memory lives on through her sister, Evelyn Ward (Paul); son, Tim Lewis (Ava); daughter, Pam Szarmach (Lenny); grandchildren, Ross Hollon (Summer), Lindsay Thomas, Sarah Owen (A.J.), Cooper Lewis, Rachel Thomas, and Erin Thomas; great-grandchildren, Mila Hollon and Elle Hollon; dear friend and companion Clay Bossart; numerous nieces and nephews; and her countless friends. She will be greatly missed by many. Special thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses at Premier Medicine, Forbes Hospital, and her steady, loving caregivers Bob, Vi, and Leanne, who provided invaluable care and friendship to Lois for many years. A viewing for Lois will be held on Wednesday, July 29th from 6:00-8:00 PM at the GENE H. CORL FUNERAL CHAPEL INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike (412-372-2100), and where a Blessing Service will be held on Thursday, July 30th at 11:00 AM. CDC Guidelines will be followed and wearing of masks will be required. Interment following in Cross Roads Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to saveawarrior.org/donate in Lois’ memory would be greatly appreciated.
