Ilona “Lonnie” M. Silver, of Monroeville, went to be with the Lord on April 28, 2022, after a courageous 2-year battle with cancer. Retired from a lifelong career as a Director of Development for several non-profit organizations dedicated to serving the developmental needs of the less fortunate and underprivileged adolescents in our society. Most recent past employers included: Imani Christian Academy and Gwens Girls in Pittsburgh. In addition to being a previous breast cancer survivor, she was a national award winner for raising funds for breast cancer research for the Susan B. Komen Foundation. She also served as chair for the race for the cure in Pittsburgh in 2005 and 2006. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Rita (Wall) Kovach. She was the sister of Gerald H. Kovach (Kathleen) and children, Jerry John, Renee, and Kathleen; Gary Kovach (Debbie) and children, Shannon, Cassie, Ivory, and Allyson; Marilyn Bresolin and children, Bobby, and Marla; and the late Ronald Kovack (surviving wife Priscilla) and children, Stacy, and Brian. Friends will be received Tuesday May 3rd from 2-4 and 5-9 p.m. at the GENE H. CORL FUNERAL CHAPEL INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike (412-372-2100). Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Christ the Divine Shephard Parish at St. Bernadette Church, 245 Azalea Dr., Monroeville. Entombment following in Good Shepherd Cemetery. The family requests that all flowers be pink, purple, and white, for those choosing to send flowers.
