February 24, 2022
Henry J. Cortinovis, 71, passed away on February 24, 2022, at UPMC Hospital in Monroeville. Even though a failing heart took him away from us, his loving heart cared deeply for his family, his friends, and his community. Henry grew up in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania. He attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. After graduation, he accepted a position as a supervisor on the Union Railroad. In his thirties, he became a Systems Analyst for the Westinghouse Corporation in Monroeville and Cranberry until he suffered a debilitating stroke. Even after his stroke, he continued to enjoy golfing, fishing, poker games, Monroeville Lions events, and an occasional cruise or trip to Florida. He also loved casino trips with his sister, Janet. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Anna Cortinovis, and his mother-in-law, Nancy Hobbins. He is survived by his father-in-law Frederick Hobbins, his devoted wife, Christine, and his loving sons, Douglas and Jonathan (Lisa). His pride and joy were his beautiful granddaughters, Addy and Cece. Henry is also survived by his sisters, Joan Johnson (Bob), Janet Cortinovis (Chuck), his sister-in-law, Suzanne Morsek (Tom), and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held later this summer. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: The Monroeville Lions Foundation, c/o 200 Mallard Drive Monroeville, PA. 15146, The Pittsburgh Food Bank, or the American Heart Association.
