Eugene Pilardi Eugene “Gene” Louis Pilardi, 75, of Monroeville died on Wednesday June 1, 2016 in Shadyside Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Cummings) Pilardi for 50 wonderful years; loving, devoted and awesome father of Robin P (Michael) Gibson of Marlborough, Massachusetts; proud grandfather of Bethany Nicole. He was the son of the late Louis and Rosella Pilardi. He is survived by inlaws: Dan and Marlene Cummings, Tom and Lori Forbes, Dorothy Gorman, nieces, nephews and cousins. Gene battled through MyeloDysplastic Syndrome (MDS) and a stem cell transplant donated by his daughter, Robin. Gene proudly served the US Army in Vietnam as a Private First Class. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He worked as a graphic designer for many Pittsburgh companies including the Pittsburgh Press, Thorofare, Foodland and ABC Lithographics. Gene enjoyed golfing, golfing, and more golfing. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Anastasios Raptis, MD and the loving and caring nurses and staff at the Hillman Stem Cell Transplant Center and the Shadyside Hospital 7th Floor Stem Cell Transplant Unit and the 3rd Floor Medical ICU.
