Wallace D. O'Shell January 5, 1948 – July 17, 2026 Wallace D. "Wally" O'Shell passed away peacefully after a courageous, years-long battle with illness. Throughout his journey, he faced each day with resilience, quiet strength, and an appreciation for the people and simple pleasures that brought him joy. Wally dedicated his professional life to helping others as a psychologist. His compassion, insight, and unwavering commitment to those he served left a lasting impact on countless individuals throughout his career. Above all, Wally cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Mary O'Shell (Richardson), whose love and devotion were a constant source of strength. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Cathy Brewer-Goodwill (Craig) and Margaret Ann Wallace, his son, David (Katie), and his two grandchildren. He leaves behind extended family members, such as his nephew Scott Butler (Dawn) and niece Ashely Mursch (John), and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his father Herbert O’Shell, his mother Lois O’Shell, and his sister Karen Campbell. Wally found peace and happiness in the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, bird watching, and especially watching the bunnies that visited his front yard. He was a devoted sports fan whose loyalty never wavered for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, Penguins, and Pitt Panthers. If a sporting event was on television, chances are Wally was watching it—whether football, baseball, hockey, gymnastics, figure skating, or just about any competition. He also shared a special bond with his faithful dog, Duchess, whose companionship brought him comfort and joy. Wally appreciated life's finer pleasures as well, finding contentment in a good cigar and a memorable five-course gourmet meal shared with those he loved. Wally will be remembered for his intelligence, warm sense of humor, generous spirit, and deep appreciation for both life's grand moments and its quiet everyday blessings. Though he will be greatly missed, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain with all who knew him. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to everyone who offered prayers, support, and kindness throughout Wally's illness. A very special thank you is extended to the compassionate staff at Abode Personal Care, whose kindness and dedication went above and beyond to make Wally feel welcomed, included, and valued. They encouraged him to socialize again, helping him form new friendships that brought him great happiness. He especially looked forward to playing cards with his new friends and spending peaceful afternoons relaxing on the patio. Their exceptional care and genuine compassion enriched Wally's life and brought great comfort to his family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the GENE H. CORL FUNERAL CHAPEL INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike (412-372-2100). In accordance with Wally's wishes, funeral services will be private. Though deeply missed, Wally's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and in the many lives he touched through his profession, his friendships, and his unwavering love for his family.
