Thomas E. Mulkerin

Thomas E. Mulkerin, a man of unwavering love, boundless generosity, and tireless dedication, peacefully joined his beloved wife Kathleen A. (Nelson) Mulkerin in eternal rest on March 4, 2024. His life was a testament to love, family, and service, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. Born to Frank and Nellie Mulkerin, on February 16, 1946 in Braddock, PA. On August 31, 1968, Thomas married the love of his life, Kathleen Ann Nelson, in East McKeesport, PA. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising their family in East McKeesport before settling in Monroeville, PA. In 1991, they made Arlington, TX their home. Thomas was a devoted husband and father. He leaves behind a legacy of love as the cherished father of Tawnie (Jeff) Marcus, Thomas (Misty) Mulkerin, and Rhonda Berbert, whom he lovingly embraced as his own for more than two decades. His heart expanded with joy as he took on the role of "pap" to Max (Jazmin) Brudick, Ashley (David) Marcus, Morgan Beman, Adam (AJ) Marcus, Kade Mulkerin, Trent Marick, and Haylee Marick. Later, he delighted in the title of great grandfather, lovingly known as "pap paw," to Alyssa, Kate, Nolan, Kennedy, Lilly, and Tanor. His love for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren knew no bounds, and they in turn adored him beyond measure. Thomas was also survived by his beloved siblings, Eileen, Harry, Jim, John, and Dennis, and a cherished brother-in-law to Ric (Karen) and Jay (Theresa) Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Nellie Mulkerin, his mother and father-in-law, Robert and Kathleen Nelson, brothers Ron and Bill, sisters Mary Jane Felt, and Betty Brown, along with many other dear family members. Thomas held his family close to his heart, always ensuring their needs were met and supporting them through life's many adventures. Throughout his life, Thomas was a pillar of strength and support for his family. Even while working two or three jobs, he made sure to be present for his children's games and practices, and later, he traveled across states to attend his grandchildren's events. Kade had the privilege of living with his grandparents for several years, experiencing firsthand the unconditional love and care that Thomas was capable of. Every visit to Texas or Colorado was filled with extra fun activities, as Thomas made it his mission to create lasting memories with his beloved family. Thomas dedicated his life to serving others, starting with his role as a firefighter and paramedic, proudly holding the title of a lifetime member of The Monroeville #4 Fire Station, where he served in various volunteer positions, including president, and was a familiar face at the bingo nights. His commitment to community service extended to his roles in the Monroeville Jaycees and Jaycees International Senate, Citizen Police Association, Arlington Citizens On Patrol, s Citizen's Fire Academy, and Santa Cops, among others. NASCAR was more than a passion for Thomas; it was a lifelong love affair. He amassed a collection of cars and books, and even grandchildren or great-grandchildren could not open or play with his prized possessions. Photography was another one of his joys, capturing countless precious moments for his family and friends to cherish forever. Thomas made a professional career working in records first in the records departments of Melon Bank in Pittsburgh working with Microfiche, after he moved to Texas he stayed in the records department at First Horizon Home Loans, Bank of New York-Mellon, and finally, the Arlington Police Department, where he found immense joy in his work. Thomas E. Mulkerin will be remembered for his unwavering love, his generous spirit, and his dedication to family and community. His laughter will echo in the memories of those who knew him, and his legacy of love will continue to inspire generations to come. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in the knowledge that Tom is now reunited with his beloved Kathi. Your memory will forever be a blessing, and your love will live on in our hearts forever. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m., and from 6 p.m. -8 p.m. and Friday March 15, 2024 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the GENE H. CORL FUNERAL CHAPEL INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike, Monroeville, PA. (412-372-2100), and where a funeral service will be held on Friday March 15, 2024 at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park. The family is also planning a Celebration of Life in Arlington, TX with date and time to follow.
