Mike Capor

Mike Capor, of Monroeville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 23, 2023 after a long and fulfilling life of 99 years. Born November 24, 1923, Mike lived his whole life in the Monroeville area. Following graduation from Westinghouse Memorial High School, he entered Naval military service in 1943, serving as a Quartermaster Third Class on a LST in the Pacific Theater. He returned home after the war, and in 1949 married his beloved wife, the late Jane G. (Czapor) Capor. Mike spent his career as a machinist with Westinghouse Air Brake Co., finally retiring in 1985. Anyone who knew him could attest that he was passionate about golf. He was almost 50 when he first took up the game, but he was hooked from the start. He played regularly with the Air Brake golf league, and then in retirement stayed active not only playing golf, but also working as a part time starter at a local course. Mike’s defining feature that everyone can agree on was his ever present good mood. He was always affable, optimistic, and wearing a smile. He brightened the room around him wherever he went. “And how!” Mike is preceded in death by his brothers John Capor (Jean) and Peter Capor (Wilma Jean), and his son Eugene M. Capor. Left to cherish his memory are his loving daughter Darlene Beatty (Ralph), daughter-in-law Rosalynn Capor, grandsons Gregory Beatty (Caitilin) and Christopher Beatty (Jessica), and a whole bunch of great-grandkids. He is also survived and missed by his special friends, Millie Neeper, the Allen family, along with numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by a memorial service at the GENE H. CORL FUNERAL CHAPEL INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike.
