Mark Gerard McCashin November 8, 1948 - May 28, 2021 Mark Gerard McCashin, age 72 of Murrysville, PA (formerly of Monroeville, PA) passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, May 28th, surrounded by his loving family. Mark was born in New York City on November 8, 1948, the first child of the late Mark and Anne McCashin (Connolly). He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Catherine (Cathy) McCashin (Donahue) and children Christyn (Jay) McAndrew, of Westfield, NJ, Brian (Debbie) McCashin, of Medina, OH, Laura (Shane) Muro, of Level Green, PA, and Stephen (Jennie) McCashin, of Orinda, CA., and his thirteen beloved grandchildren; Hayley, Shane, Hannah, Erin, Mia, Michael, Danny, Brooke, Brianna, Maeve, Teddy, Millie and Hugh; and great-grandson Landon. Mark met the love of his life while attending St. Nicholas of Tolentine High School in the Bronx. For their first date, Mark took Cathy to see the Sound of Music and the rest was history. A graduate of Iona College, Mark spent the majority of his career with Westinghouse Electric Company. His time at Westinghouse took Mark and his family from New York to Iowa City, Iowa, before being transferred to the headquarters in Pittsburgh. They raised their four children in Monroeville, all of whom graduated from Gateway High School before going off to college and having their own successful careers and loving families. Mark attended too many swim meets and soccer games to count watching his children and found himself doing the same for his grandchildren years later. Mark is also survived by his sister Patricia (McCashin) Newell (Richard), brother-in-law Kevin Donahue (Maryalice) and many nieces and nephews. As the child of Irish immigrants, Mark was extremely passionate about his Irish heritage. Mark will be laid to rest at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery just north of the Bronx. Visitation will be Thursday, June 3 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at GENE H. CORL FUNERAL CHAPEL INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike, (412-372-2100).
