Ju-Yu Judy Tzeng

Ju-Yu Judy Tzeng passed away as she rested quietly with her husband beside her on January 12, 2026 at the age of 83. Born in Hsinchu, Taiwan on March 27, 1942, she grew up as one of ten close siblings. She enjoyed reading literature, listening to classical music, and playing sports. She came to the United States to pursue her Masters in Library Science at the University of Pittsburgh. She met her husband, Shih-Ying Dean Tzeng, a PhD student, at an International Students Union event at Pitt. Upon her graduation, she took a library position at Boston University for one year before moving back to Pittsburgh to marry her husband and start a life together. She and her husband shared the same birthday, one year apart, and also married that day in 1970. She fully dedicated her life to supporting her husband and both children, LeeAnn Tzeng Brash and Ian Tzeng, in their studies and pursuits. Between working as a full-time homemaker and driving her children to many activities and lessons, she also played tennis in a women’s league and tended to her garden, her happy place, both indoors and out. She served several years as music librarian for the Children’s Festival Chorus, which would later become the Pittsburgh Youth Chorus. She and her husband volunteered with PittCon, the Pittsburgh based analytical chemistry and spectroscopy conference, for several decades. Ju-Yu is survived by her husband, Shih-Ying Dean Tzeng; her two children, LeeAnn Tzeng Brash and Ian Tzeng; her grandchild, Lily Tzeng Brash; as well as her surviving siblings both in Taiwan and the United States and their children and grandchildren. Ju-Yu was insistent that she never wanted any fuss over her passing, so a casual celebration of her life will be held on March 28, 2026, from 3pm to 5pm at the GENE H. CORL FUNERAL CHAPEL INC.
