Josephine Sacco

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Josephine Sacco—a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend—who passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2026. Born on May 24, 1940, in Pittsburgh and raised in Hazelwood, PA, Josephine later raised her family in Plum Borough. Throughout her life, she built a home filled with family, faith, hard work, and creativity. Josephine’s greatest legacy was her deep love for her family and the friends who became family. Her family will always cherish her homemade manicotti at Christmas, her beautiful silk flower arrangements, and her warm hospitality—she made everyone feel welcome in her home and ensured they were fed the best Italian cooking. No visit or call ever ended without her trademark farewell, leaving everyone with a comforting, heartfelt "I love you." Josephine loved all animals, but none held a special place in her heart quite like her great-grand dog, Geno, who brought her endless joy and companionship. Throughout life’s greatest trials, she met every adversity with unwavering faith, extraordinary strength, and a quiet courage that inspired everyone around her. Welcomed with open arms by the family who passed before her, she is now at peace in heaven, enjoying Pittsburgh Steelers games with them once more. Josephine is survived by her daughters, Andrea Yowan (Tim) and Michelle McDonald, and her five grandchildren: Lindsey, Tyler, Sean, Nicole, and Kierstin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hamlet "Ummie" and Margaret Totaro; her brother, Michael "Mickey" Totaro; her beloved husband, Anthony Sacco; and her son, Frank Sacco. Her love will remain a guiding presence for all who knew her. Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the GENE H. CORL INC. FUNERAL CHAPEL AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike (412-372-2100). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Parish - Our Lady Of Joy Church, 2000 O'Block Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15239.
