Janice Lee Nous

Janice L. Nous (Jones), of Monroeville passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. Beloved wife of Dr. Albert Nous (deceased). Mother of Douglas Griffin (Paul), Deborah Lee Papalia (Joe), Mark Nous, and Dawn Nous (Ron). Grandmother to Joey Papalia (Layla), Dominic Papalia (Angelina), and Alexa Nous. Sister of Sandy McClean, Bill Jones, Bruce Jones, and Cynthia Ryan. Janice graduated from Pitcairn High School in 1955 and she maintained many of the friendships she made there throughout her life. After high school she worked at Carnegie Tech before it was known as Carnegie Mellon (which she liked to point out). She then devoted her life completely to her children as they grew before going to college herself. She excelled at her studies (as she did with anything she put her mind to) and after graduating with honors, she began her career. Janice never stepped into an office environment where she did not end up running the place. Her commitment to hard work and absolute integrity was a valued quality to her employers, who recognized and rewarded her organizational capabilities. Upon retirement, Janice devoted herself to her husband, family and church, North American Martyrs of Haymaker Rd. She was a member of the Ladies of Charity and the Rosary Committee, as well as serving as a Eucharistic Minister, she was also involved in many other church groups, including Bible study. She and Al also travelled extensively all over the world. She loved animals very much and had too many cats to count, as well as four Yorkies over the years. From very young childhood she was a horse lover who never missed the Kentucky Derby. She delighted in her grandchildren and was always happy when spending time with them. She was a fan of the Queen, Jackie Kennedy and Nancy Reagan, whose upwards adoring gaze she adopted when looking at Al. And she loved Elvis, her Elvis ‘room’ is chocked full of mementos and her trip to Graceland was a highlight to her. Most of all though, Janice was kindness personified, so many people come up to tell us “Your mom is the nicest woman I know.” If there was ever a need, Janice was there. She was an amazing woman full of love, compassion, tenderness, and joy. She will be missed more than we can express, and she leaves the world a better place because she was in it. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 16th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the GENE H. CORL FUNERAL CHAPEL INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike (412-372-2100). Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023, at Christ the Divine Shepherd Parish at St. Bernadette Church, 245 Azalea Drive, Monroeville.
