Eddie Lee Becton

Eddie Lee Becton, age 84, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, peacefully departed this life and entered eternity on Friday, June 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and the grace of God. Born on June 23, 1941, in Ellendale, Tennessee, Eddie was the beloved son of the late Johnnie and Willie Becton. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Nathanial Becton, Johnnie Becton Jr., Geraldine Terry, Delois White, James Becton, and Irene Moore. Eddie will be sincerely missed by his remaining siblings, Augustine Robinson, Dorothy Cathcart (Arthur), Freddie Becton, James Arthur Becton, and Linda Holley. Eddie was a devoted husband, a dedicated father, a loving grandfather, and a faithful friend. His life was marked by hard work, unwavering commitment to his family, and a generous spirit that touched all who knew him. As a young man, Eddie relocated from Memphis, Tennessee, to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he began a distinguished career as an industrial professional painter. His work took him throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, contributing to numerous industrial painting projects. In the early 1960s, he joined the team of Ira Ritter Sr., where he helped paint many of the bridges that continue to serve the city of Pittsburgh today. It was also there that he met and fell in love with his beloved wife, Deborah, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. He later continued his career with Ira Ritter Jr. beginning in 2001 while also serving part-time as a custodian with the Gateway School District. Eddie was a faithful member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, where he was baptized alongside his oldest grandson, Elijah—a cherished memory for both of them. He was a proud and devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan who loved sports of every kind. In his leisure time, Eddie enjoyed cooking, grilling, gardening, painting, sharing meals with family, and creating lasting memories with those he loved most. Above all, Eddie's greatest joy was his family. He loved deeply and unconditionally, always placing the needs of his wife, children, and grandchildren before his own. His wisdom, strength, humor, and loving presence will be greatly missed and forever remembered. Eddie leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Deborah E. Becton of Monroeville, Pennsylvania; his children, Tamara L. Becton of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Tyrone G. Becton of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Cornella R. (Vanessa) Ellis of Monroeville, Pennsylvania; Kalana D. (Reece) Heller of Monroeville, Pennsylvania; Alea G. (Christopher) Green of Bowie, Maryland; and Edward L. (Rebeca) Becton of Monroeville, Pennsylvania. He was also the proud and cherished grandfather of Elijah N. Heller, Nizaiah E. Heller, Shaine E. Becton, Shallyn N. Becton, Selinah S. Becton, Samara G. Ellis, all of Monroeville, Pennsylvania; Tanisha N. Becton, Tara L. Winston, and Faith Becton, all of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Though our hearts are saddened by his passing, we are comforted by the legacy of love, faith, hard work, and family that Eddie leaves behind. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him. A Homegoing Celebration will be held at Jubilee International Ministries (200 Center New Texas Road, Plum, PA 15239) on Wednesday, June 17th, 2026, with a public viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Following the viewing, a Celebration of Life service will take place.
