Earl E. "Gene" Stair

Earl “Gene” Eugene Stair, 94, longtime resident of Monroeville, Pennsylvania, passed peacefully and comforted by his devoted family on July 8, 2023. Earl was born August 26, 1928 in Harrisonville, Missouri, the son of the late Earl and Merna (Bennett) Stair. Earl will be remembered lovingly by; his 3 daughters, Kathy Kellman, Kristy (Michael) Novak, and Kelly (Robert) Fletcher; their 8 grandchildren Kristopher (Andrea) Kellman, Todd Kellman, Elizabeth (Erik) Mangan, Nicole (Joshua) Kowalkowski, Michael (Maggie) Novak III, Justin (Kristen) Fletcher, Kiley (Danny) O’Neill, Jamie Fletcher; their 13 great grandchildren Amelia, Emerie, and Ashton Kellman, Kieran and Kora Mangan, Zoey, Lexi and Owen Kowalkowski, Avery and Rylee Novak, Abigail and Mason Fletcher, Evelyn O’Neill, brother Terry Stair (Karen) and sister in-law, Bonnie Stair, niece and nephews. Earl was recently preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Janice Ullery Stair, his parents, and brother Jerry Stair. Earl grew up in Harrisonville, Missouri, and graduated from Harrisonville High School in 1946. He then joined the Army and was stationed at Kessler Field in Biloxi, Mississippi, as an x-ray technician. Earl attended Missouri Valley College graduating in 1952 with a Biology Degree. After graduating he taught at Archie High School and coached basketball. He later began his career with Westinghouse and eventually transferred to the Pittsburgh Area in 1957 where Earl and Janice planted their roots. After a long and rewarding career at Westinghouse he retired in 1986. Earl loved golf and played in leagues for over 60 years, even playing in the league last year at the age of 94. Earl and Janice enjoyed traveling and fulfilled their bucket list of visiting all fifty states. One of Earl’s joys was watching the family of 2 that began in 1952 grow to a family of 34. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm. at the GENE H. CORL FUNERAL CHAPEL INC.
