Dolores Jean Douglas

Dolores Jean Douglas was born on February 24, 1944, to Virginia Parr Claybrook and Thomas Claybrook in Pittsburgh, PA. She was raised in Homewood, PA and graduated from Westinghouse High School in the Class of 1962. Upon graduating, Dolores married her high school sweetheart, Roy Jones and relocated to Roxbury, Massachusetts. From this union, Dolores gave birth to her firstborn child, Karmen Rochelle Jones in November 1965. Shortly after, Roy and Dolores separated, and Dolores returned to Pittsburgh. In 1975, Dolores met her second husband, Louis Conrad Douglas Jr. From this union, Dolores gave birth to Louwanda and Louis III. She also became stepmother to Monica Douglas. Dolores was the greatest mother to her children. In her early years, Dolores desired to become a bus driver which led to her obtaining her CDL license. After becoming a mother, she decided to attend Duff’s Business Institute where she acquired extraordinary administrative skills. Through perseverance, hard work and dedication, Dolores fulfilled over 20 years as a clerk typist at Allegheny County Children, Youth and Family Services, and accomplished 16 years of service as secretary for the YWCA. Dolores was a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, grandmother, and friend. She was known for her sweet sense of humor and unique fondness for elephants. Her family and friends loved to help her collect elephant artifacts and statues. Dolores was also a lover of plants. She joked that her plants thrived for many years because she talked to them. Over the years, health issues and other hardships took their toll on Dolores, but she always remained strong, diligent, and full of laughter. She truly enjoyed spending time with loved ones, especially her grandchildren. Dolores was preceded in death by her mother Virginia Claybrook; father, Thomas Claybrook. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving children Karmen Jones, LouWanda Douglas, Louis Douglas III; Precious Grandchildren Gregory Reed (Davita), Mark Reed (Megan), Louis Douglas IV, Londyn Timbers, Jianna Douglas, Leslie Timbers; Great Grandchildren Finn and Ava Reed; Best friend and cousin Joyce Pratt; Along with a host of caring family and friends. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 4-6 p.m. at the GENE H. CORL FUNERAL CHAPEL INC., with a Memorial Service following at 6 p.m.
