David Joseph Shott

David Joseph Shott, 60, of Murrysville, passed away peacefully in his home to the tunes of Bruce Springsteen on Friday, January 19, 2024. He was born October 26, 1963, in Greensburg, son of the late Joseph Shott and Marsha (Smitley) Olson, and stepson of Jim Olson. He graduated from Gateway High School, Class of 1981, and then went on to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Petroleum Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. Dave began his professional career in 1986 at Westinghouse Materials Company of Ohio (WMCO), and then moved on to APTIM, where he worked as an Environmental Engineer for the remainder of his career. He truly loved his job as a Senior Project Manager, so much so, he was even helping to close out key projects during his last week on Earth. Dave’s dedication to his work can be an inspiration to us all, and he’ll always be remembered by his APTIM family as one of their most talented, productive, and loved colleagues. Dave, better known as “Shottzy” by his close family and friends, instantly touched the lives of every person he met with his welcoming, selfless, patient, and compassionate spirit. To know him was to love him, and his legacy will always live on through craft beer, music, New York style pizza, and cars. He is preceded in death by his father; and his fur child, Austi. He is survived by his mother and stepfather; his high school sweetheart and devoted wife of 44 years, Kimberly (Smith) Shott; a daughter, Chelsea Shott (Jeffrey DeGraff); a son, Tyler Shott (Andrea (Hartman) Shott); three grand puppies, Henley, Guinness, and Remy; a brother, Rodger Olson (Kelly (Esch) Olson); son in-law of Luann and the late Wes Smith; brother-in-law, David Smith (Suzanne (Weimer) Smith); two nephews, Lincoln and Jackson Olson; and three nieces, Alexia, Ava, and Olivia Smith. Dave’s Memorial/Celebration of Life Service will be held at Monroeville Assembly of God, 4561 Old William Penn Hwy. Monroeville, on Thursday, February 1st at 6 PM. Another celebration of life will take place at a later date.
