Lawrence H. Zdobinski Sr.

Lawrence H. Zdobinski Sr., 92, of Plum Borough and formerly of Polish Hill, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Son of the late John J. and Josephine (Wieczorek) Zdobinski and beloved husband of the late Mary Louise (Broderick). He was the father of Lawrence Jr., Susan M. Higgins, Patricia (James) McCollam, and Eric (Kathy) Zdobinski; grandfather of Kimberly (Jason) Roller, Nicholas (Gloria) Higgins, Patrick and Daniel Zdobinski, Kaylie (Anthony Adkins) McCollam, James, Molly and Joseph McCollam, Emily and Allison Zdobinski, and Madison and Amber Zdobinski; great “Pappy” to Miles, Liam, Harriet, Aidan, Verity, Henry and Genevieve; brother of Richard Zdobinski and Caroline Novak; uncle to many nieces and nephews who he loved. He was preceded in death by his siblings, John J. Jr., Lorraine Schumacher, Beverly Raiders and infant twin sons, Matthew and Mark Zdobinski. Larry retired from United Parcel Service in New Stanton after working for 32 years and was the former owner of Larry’s Sunoco Service in Squirrel Hill. Affectionately known as the “baby whisperer” among the family for his uncanny ability to calm any baby, anywhere with his loving arms and his Mother’s special song. He was a “jack of all trades” who found no greater pleasure than getting something to work properly. His children and grandchildren always knew he “had their backs” and wouldn’t hesitate to do anything for them day or night. He served in the US Army, and National Guard and was discharged from the ‘service of life’ 70 years to the day of being discharged from his military service. Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Friday, January 20th at the GENE H. CORL FUNERAL CHAPEL INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike (412-372-2100). Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 21 at Our Lady of Joy Church of Holy Family Parish, 2000 O’Block Road, Plum Borough. Interment following in Plum Creek Cemetery.
